Responsibilities

The Building department is to provide a high level of building code compliance for the preservation of life, safety and the general welfare for the people of DeSoto County.

• Administering and enforcing the Florida Building Codes and the adopted Ordinances for DeSoto County, Florida.
• Responsible for the issuance of permits for building, building plans review, electrical & building inspections, mobile home permitting
• Performs on site inspections at different stages of the building process to insure that construction or installation is in compliance with all adopted codes.
